Anniversaries

You know, just about everywhere you look, people are celebrating some anniversary of something. Wedding, graduation, whatever. Some monumental event that transpired ages ago that has had a profound alteration to the daily life of whoever it is.

Nothing major in that really, though I am curious, I admit, if any of these people celebrate the bad things as well.

I don't mean remember and honor, but celebrate. There is a difference. We all remember and honor September 11th, but we don't celebrate it.

See, I personally celebrate my bad anniversaries as well. Celebrating one today, in fact. The beginning of my addiction. Yes, back on this day in 1983 when I was but a young troubled youth of 9, I started the addiction that back in August I celebrated my extended abstinence from.

I say 'extended abstinence from' simply because I shall never ever truly be over my addiction to cutting. Every day is a battle to resist the urge and desire to cut, even though I haven't in so long. But luckily I don't, as I've simply traded in my razor blades for a laptop and the internet.

So much stimulus before me, and I still don't feel anything.

Anyways, Happy Anniversary to me, I'm off to do more writing and get the occasional bit of work in.

Why do you have to ruin my fandom?

The world of fanfics can be a dangerous place. Granted, I know that it's not going to be perfect, as the author isn't a professional author. That's why it's fan fiction. That's good and all, I can live with it as long as it's written well.

Sadly, such isn't the case on one writing site that shall remain nameless that I used to frequent. Out of all the stories there, the well written ones weren't that well received, and the worst written ones where the author has no concept of grammar or how to use a spell checker got the most praise and acclaim. WTF?

I don't understand how that could be. I lose interest and can not read a story that's poorly written with way too many mistakes. Certainly, my own writing isn't perfect, especially in drafts, but I at least proof and edit, as well as have others go over anything I might miss. And stories that look like a preschooler wrote are getting recognition?

But that's not the worst of it. Why is it that people that claim to be shippers can't even get their characters right? I myself am a Dramione shipper, and nearly every story I read of that ship is so grossly out of character it sickens me. Draco Malfoy has never, and will never, have a fondness for anything muggle. He will not go to muggle clubs, like muggle music, nothing like that. Sorry, but if he did, he wouldn't be Draco Malfoy.

Secondly, Draco Malfoy is a spoiled prat, not Mr. Badass Wizard. Okay, he's talented in potions. But other than that, he's not that great. Nor is he really anything more than a prat, given his inability to kill Dumbledore. In short, Draco is all talk, no action. End of story.

Granted, I know it's fan fiction, and not official, but come on, people. A little realism goes a long way.

Obligitory First Post

Once again, I'm claiming my own little corner of cyberspace to do with as I wish.

Welcome to the Darkke side of the web.
